Based in Toronto, Angelene Galway is an experienced Funds and Corporate lawyer, having practised with Harneys, a top offshore law firm in the Cayman Islands, Allen & Overy, a Magic Circle law firm in London and Baker & McKenzie, a top global firm in Toronto. She also has experience working in the alternative asset management industry as General Counsel of an international asset management firm at its head office in Toronto, Ontario.
Angelene has over 10 years of experience in international private and public offerings, mergers & acquisitions, corporate restructuring, secured transactions and financings, the formation of joint ventures, special purpose vehicles and partnerships. Her clients have included domestic and international entities, established and start-up fund managers and hedge funds and alternative asset allocation funds that combine both public and private investments domiciled in Canada, the Cayman Islands and the U.S., private debt and equity platforms and exchange listed special purpose acquisition vehicles.
She has advised on the establishment of investment funds (including hedge funds and private equity funds) utilizing segregated portfolio companies, exempted companies and exempted limited partnerships as well as advising on external management investments for fund of funds platforms. Additionally, Angelene advises on the range of operational investment fund agreements, including investment management, custody, administrator and prime broker agreements.
Angelene also advises investment funds on a broad range of regulatory and compliance issues involving registered dealers, advisers and investment fund managers. In addition to advising on AML, Angelene has experience dealing with AIFMD, FATCA, FCA requirements, regulatory filings to CIMA and other international regulatory requirements. Angelene will be practising in association with BAX Securities Law.

Angelene has been called to the bars of Ontario (2003), England and Wales (Solicitor)(2009) (not practising) and the Cayman Islands (2010).
Angelene graduated from McGill’s Faculty of Law with an LL.B. in 2002 and from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law with an LL.M. in 2005.
